“Prelude to Spring” oil, 36″ x 24″
As an adolescent I wanted to be a writer. I entered a competition sponsored by one of the prominent weekend newspapers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where I was born.

“The Space Within” oil, 50″ x 40″
To my surprise, I was among the finalists! Faced with the affirmation that I was a reasonably good writer, my perfectionism went into gear, and I realized I could not write a wonderful, amazing book as my first project. So I never even gave it a chance.

“The Moors IV” oil, 20″ x 20″
When I was living in Israel and going to college, out of the blue, I painted a couple of 5” x 7” paintings. I did not take them seriously, nor was I surprised or inquired where that was coming from. It was just something I played with.

“Enigma” oil, 36″ x 24″
A few years later, back in Brazil, I decided to study painting, but not to become an artist or make a career of it. I just wanted to learn. Throughout the ten years of taking classes, working very hard, even selling some paintings, I still did not take it seriously as a career. It was something I did for my enjoyment.

“Bridging Differences” oil, 20″ x 20″
After a decade of painting, I realized that without it I would not be centered. From then on, painting was central to my life not as a profession but as a way of life.

“A Dreamy Field of Imagined Music” oil, 50″ x 40″
After all these decades of painting and teaching, I feel I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg.

“Ex Nihilo” oil, 48″ x 48″
My holy grail is to find the perfect expression of me. As the banner on my website states, “I want to look at my paintings and see myself in the mirror.”
